“One can follow the sun, of course, but I have always thought that it is best to know some winter, too, so that the summer, when it arrives, is the more gratefully received.” — Beatriz Williams
The winter season is upon us as we reached December 1st. Many people see the snow, darkness, and below freezing temperatures and start to feel down. This is natural as we aren’t getting as much sunlight since we are spending most time indoors, and when we get out of work, it’s already dark out. Being without vitamin D that we get from the sun can really put us into the dumps. Our energy levels decrease, we feel fatigued, and we just aren’t as peppy anymore. Not only do our vitamin levels decrease, but we also tend to eat a lot of junk around the holidays. This further fatigues us and our health diminishes a bit in the winter months. It’s important to keep a balance and stay on top of your health during these colder months. This will help you get out of your funk and increase your energy and mental well being! Try to counteract the woes and incorporate some more self care into your winter routines! I’m taking the extra steps too to better my self care and got bloodwork I needed done since April and went to the gym today for the first time in a long while.. it was nice and I feel better because of it! Extra sleep, daily vitamins, drink more water, moisturize, exercise, and cutting down on the junk foods can all greatly help your body and mind!
