“Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards.” – Søren Kierkegaard
“I’m not in this world to live up to your expectations and you’re not in this world to live up to mine.” – Bruce Lee
Live in the now and look forward to the future. A perfect mix of both is what makes me tick. Each day is a great day to do something you love to do. Today I have a small plan to sell some things on eBay for my small decluttering side hustle and playing a game I have been enjoying. This is a win for today, it’s not much but it’s enough for a work day. Work, exercise, eating healthy, something fun or good for the brain and then some sleep. That’s not my ideal day but it’s what I strive for during the week. Not to mention writing this post but I usually do it while I get some cardio like today.
So how do I push myself to get these things done on most days? The secret for me is looking forward. Amalia and I love looking forward to something. It’s something I’ve talked about before but something I like to take different angles on to drive home for everyone. We have some small fall events, another wedding we’re both in, some vacation time and the holidays. It’s a great mix of time for relaxation and fun. It truly eases my mind and helps me when I feel like I’m stuck in the grind or in a rut. It’s a two part process for me. Find some “me time” for today while knowing that there is something to look forward to in the future. Today is an opportunity to live your best life, which always has the potential of being the building block to make tomorrow even better. It’s an optimistic view on life, tomorrow is coming so why not make it better whether today is terrible or great, strive for more and live it up.
Item 285 of 360+
Today’s decluttered item is a shirt from Amalia. This is from the Kennedy Space Center down in Cape Canaveral, Florida. I was the one who bought it for her while there on a college trip for an engineering competition. It was a great time and memory but this shirt isn’t being worn anymore so it’s time to say goodbye. Time for blast off!
