Day 277 – Self Care

“Self-care is how you take your power back.” – Lalah Delia

Have you ever been sick or feeling lousy and feel bad for your body? Because that’s how I feel. Whenever I’m feeling crappy, I start thinking about what I could’ve done better for myself to prevent feeling so icky. What we do for our physical and mental health is what keeps us strong and at our best selves. I was out all weekend and ate like crap, didn’t get nearly enough sleep, and was constantly out and about. So, my body was like “oh hell no” and has stuck me down with an illness.

What we do really has an impact on our bodies so it’s so important to have a balance of the good and bad. Set an alarm to remind you when to go to sleep, cook healthy dinners at home several times a week, take a long bath, hit the gym or the bike, and catch up with a friend. Incorporating these positive actions into your life and maintaining a healthy balance of them all will leave you feeling so much better about yourself and improve your health. Self care is so underrated at times because if you don’t take care of your body, it’ll catch up to you at some point.

Item 277 of 360+

Today’s decluttered item should almost count as two. It’s a shirt that Amalia got for me early on when dating. I’m glad things worked out but I grew out of the shirt pretty quick. Then it turned into Amalia’s. Finally, the shirt ended up in a dresser never to be worn for a few years. Today we say goodbye to the shirt in hopes that another engineer will find it and wear it.
