“Being a smart shopper is the first step to getting rich.” – Mark Cuban
TJ and I have recently become homeowners as some of our loyal readers know already. However, since we’ve bought the house back in the end of November 2020, we had to make some big decisions. When you own a home, there are big purchases and upgrades you can easily make. Such as, a new heating system, a new roof, interior and exterior upgrades, landscaping, a pool and so much more. It’s easy to get caught up in it all and get all new fancy things. These fancy things add up though and you’ll be paying for these items on top of your new mortgage and utilities. Some of these things though are definitely needed such as a new roof.
TJ and I are shopping around for a new roof right now and material cost are very high now due to Covid so some contractors are pricing pretty high. You may think, well, I need to get this roof so I guess I’ll just pay it. Well no, shop around and get quotes first before you give in to making such a big purchase. It’s easy to overthink buying the expensive living room set, but it’s sometimes harder to imagine setting a budget for something that’s a necessity like a heating system and a roof.
It’s important to weigh your options for big purchases that are and aren’t necessary. Even if you don’t have a house, refinancing student loans or buying a new mattress are different instances where you’d have to decide what’s financially best for you and makes the most sense for your situation. Remember that everything adds up and the especially large purchases you make in your life have a longer effect on your financial situation and also your life.

Today’s item is one of TJs older shirts he no longer wears. This shirt is still in good shape and hopefully can be of use to someone new.
